Emergency Medical Services

In response to growth and demand for extended capabilities, Emergency Medical Services were offered to the community starting in April of 1999. In May of 2000, the Eagle Creek Volunteer Fire Department Articles of Incorporation was officially amended listing Emergency Medical Services as provision within the charter. The name of the corporation was changed to Eagle Creek Volunteer Emergency Services as well to denote the broadened scope of services.

ECVES is uniquely positioned to balance service offerings for the community. Many of the emergency medical technicians (EMT) are also cross-trained as firefighters and rescue technicians. This allows for a balanced service to be delivered to a patient where the patient expects to receive aid.

EMS Specialized Capabilities

The following are some of the specialized capabilities of ECVES EMS.
  • EMS Ventilator – An EMS/Transport ventilator provides a time cycled, volume consistent air flow to the patient.
  • EZ-IO – provides a rapid, easy vascular access via the intraosseous space. It is a hand-held, battery powered driver to which a s special IO needle is attached; used for insertion of the IO needle into the proximal tibia of children and adults.
  • C-PAP – Constant or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (C-PAP) is a non-invasive ventilation that oftentimes reduces the need for intubation. It prevents the patient’s airway from collapsing at the end of a breath.
