Fire Services

Fire suppression operations at ECVES have been active since November of 1992 when the department was initially formed as Eagle Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Since that time the type and level of service has evolved as our rural community expanded.

The ISO analysis of 2007 gave the fire district a classification of 7/9, which was an improvement from the former classification of Unclassified. The study stated that the fire suppression capability is “improving in the face of the demands of a changing environment.”

The majority of the ECVES firefighters are cross trained in Emergency Medical Services as an ECA, EMT-B, or EMT-P. The firefighters are often called upon to first respond to a scene or aid in patient care by providing lifting assistance or CPR.

The firefighters are on a continuing education program. Training is conducted twice a month at the station and firefighters also attend local, SFFMA or TEEX accredited schools as well as Annual Fire Schools offered by the Texas Engineering Extension Service / Emergency Services Training Institute. To date, the Fire Service offerings to the community have been provided by volunteers and funded through grants and donations.

Types of Fire Services Offered

The primary services offered by the Fire Department at ECVES are Structure and Wildland fire suppression. Although the goal of these services is effective and proper firefighting, supportive Fire Prevention services are offered to the community as deterrence to wildland and structure fires.

All services are conducted by trained, professional staff in accordance to Department Standard Operating Guidelines, NFPA recommended practices, and State Fireman's and Fire Marshal's Association of Texas standards. The types of services offered with level of service are as follows:
